Sleep cycles in humans typically last around 90 to 110 minutes. Within this time, we transition through various stages of sleep, broadly divided into Non-Rapid Eye Movement (NREM) and Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep.
:
How it works:
A good night's sleep consists of 5-6 complete sleep cycles. We assume falling asleep takes around 10-15 minutes and average sleep cycle duration is 90 minutes (1.5 hours).
Waking up mid-cycle can cause grogginess. These calculations help you wake up between cycles for better rest.
Understanding Sleep Stages:
NREM Sleep: Stages 1 (light) to 3 (deep, restorative).
REM Sleep: Occurs after ~70-90 mins. Dreaming, memory consolidation.
Cycles repeat 4-6 times nightly.
